SOTR started as a meeting between close friends in 2019 and has rapidly expanded to facilitating discussions with the most senior policy, thought, and industry leaders in Jamaica. This live meeting at Palisadoes has, since 2022, expanded into a 30/45 minute interview with executives chosen by the SOTR team at almost every meeting. When there is an interview, after it is done, we then transition back to a mingle without the strains brought on by formality.
This initiative was born out of a deficit that the team identified in the financial literacy space. Those that are most vulnerable and may be most impacted by discussions around money are not being reached through traditional forms of media and social media. Through this initiative, we enter the most vulnerable communities physically and host live financial wellness sessions. We have done two (3) communities thus far; Port Antonio, Savanna La Mar & Tivoli Gardens.
Our telegram group has over 2,100 members. This group was designed to facilitate free and open discussions about finance and money. It serves as a medium through which knowledge is crowdsourced for the benefit of all members.
Our SOTR Analyst Community aims to create a supportive and collaborative community for current and future finance/investment analysts in Jamaica and the Caribbean. The community serves as a platform for members to share knowledge, experiences, insights, and resources related to finance and investments broadly. The group also provides a forum for members to receive mentorship and guidance from hand-picked mentors working in firms across the world.
